Jay D. Beil, 59, of Palmerton died when his car hit a tree shortly before 5:30 a.m. Friday, according to state police at the Lehighton barracks. Beil was driving a 1988 GMC van west on Fireline Road when he crossed the eastbound lane for unknown reasons.
